Lip Reading - Beginners & All Abilities How will this course help me? This course is an aid to communication. Lip reading is a skill we all have to varying degrees. This course will help to develop this skill. Who is the course for? For those who wish to develop their lip reading skills to widen their communication skills. What can I expect to learn? How to lip read. To follow lip patterns when sounds and voices cannot be heard correctly How to develop those skills to meet every individual’s needs in their daily life Finger spelling to support lip reading Information on using hearing aids effectively, organisations that can provide further information. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practise at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. If you think that you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the centre staff. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practise in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. Your tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? A pen and notepad – should you wish to make notes Will there be any other costs? You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. Learners will be responsible for providing their own resources.
