Introduction to Flower Arranging How will this course help me? This practical course will introduce learners to the art of flower arranging giving them the necessary knowledge and skills to create imaginative and economical arrangements using a variety of materials to their best advantage. Who is the course for? Beginners and those with a little experience. What can I expect to Learn? The course will cover: Colour & shape Balance & design Use of appropriate accessories. Teaching and learning will be via tutor demonstration and learner practice, with group discussion and evaluation. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session What will I need to provide? Flowers, foliage and oasis are required for weekly practical work. Costs will vary according to individual choice of materials. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) Your tutor will advise what flowers need to be purchased. What can I do next? Enrol onto a further non-vocational course to further develop skill and knowledge. Alternatively you may wish to undertake the AIM Progression Award in Floristry.
