Ballroom Dancing Beginners Suitable for: This course will give the complete beginner the chance to learn in a fun environment some of the basic steps of Ballroom Dancing This is a non-vocational course so there are no exams or formal assessments. You and your tutor will assess your starting point and discuss what you want to achieve from the course, (your learning goals). Throughout the course your tutor will help you to track your progress from your starting point to achievement of your learning goals and the aims of the course. Towards the end of the course your tutor will assess the progress you’ve made. About the course: Develop skills in the basic steps of ballroom dancing. Develop confidence on the dance floor. Dances taught will be Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Jive, Samba, Cha Cha Cha, and Rumba. Students will learn basic steps to enable them to feel confident on the floor. Students will learn by demonstration and following, and line formations to get used to tempo and rhythm. The first session: Learners will need to complete a confidential Initial Health Assessment questionnaire. Please dress in appropriate attire for exercise. Learners should wear comfortable shoes with a leather sole, not trainers. Learners are discouraged from eating a large meal before the class begins. The tutor will explain the course outline and answer any queries. After the course: Students will have a basic knowledge of the dances taught and have the confidence to enjoy a social and fun time. Additional information: Students will be working hard on their feet for 1.5 hours, so a drink may be advised. If you have been referred by a health professional you are encouraged to explore the full range of options and opportunities open to you. Your tutor may be able to give you advice on other activities and pursuits which may be beneficial to your general wellbeing and lifestyle.
