Beginners Woodwork How will this course help me? Develop basic skills in woodwork to enable the learner to design and make individual projects Develop skills and confidence in using tools and machinery with due regard to Health and Safety. Who is the course for? This course is for anyone who is interested in learning woodwork. You and your tutor will assess your starting point and discuss what you want to achieve from the course - your learning goals. . What can I expect to Learn? The course will include: Basic skills in woodworking enabling the learner to work on individual projects of their choice with guidance from the tutor. Throughout the course your tutor will help you to track your progress from your starting point to achievement of your learning goals and the aims of the course. Towards the end of the course your tutor will assess the progress you’ve made. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. What will I need to provide? Tutor will advise each learner on suitability and how to get started on their chosen project. Tutor will give one to one support and guidance to learners. Please bring pen/pencil and paper to first session. Learners will need to supply most of their materials. Tutor will advise. Minimal costs will be incurred for materials. Safe strong footwear is recommended. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.? You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee.
