Crafts - Introduction to Sugarcraft

Sugarcraft – All abilities . Who is the course for? Beginners to the subject and those with some experience. Learners are given the support they require for their individual development. What can I expect to Learn? The course will cover: Materials, equipment and their uses in sugarcraft Making flowers and decorations Piping skills Modelling Design work Health, safety and hygiene aspects relating to the craft Pastillage and bas-relief may be covered. The sessions will normally consist of demonstrations by the tutor, followed by class practical work. Some work to be done at home between sessions is advisable but not essential. More advanced learners will have the opportunity to work on individual projects. Seasonal themes are included. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? Materials are required for practical work. Costs will vary according to individual choice and quantity used. Your tutor will advise on any future purchases relating to the course. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee.
