Computers – Introduction to the Internet How will this course help me? The course will help you to develop practical skills that will enable you to complete a range of tasks using the World Wide Web. Who is the course for? This course is suitable for those learners who want to find out about the Internet, you will need basic computer skills i.e. be confident using the mouse and keyboard. What can I expect to learn? During the course, you will: Understand how to access the Internet Learn how to navigate the web using a browser Interact with the World Wide Web Learn how to search for required information on the World Wide Web Understand Health & Safety aspects Identify key services available to Internet users All activities will help you to develop fundamental skills and knowledge to use the Internet more confidently building a portfolio to show examples of the work you have completed. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? Bring along a pen and notepad – should you wish to make any notes. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee.
