Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 2 Who is the course for? For people who work with children in educational settings in support staff roles that directly support teaching and learning e.g. teaching assistants or learning support assistants. Learners are also required to have a minimum of 5 hours per week in placement in a school setting (this may be in employment or a in a voluntary role). What can I expect to learn? You will learn about the basic requirements needed to work in a school setting. This will include Health and Safety, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Communication skills, Professional development and Supporting a Learning Activity. You will attend training for 3 hours a week where group discussion, research and reflection on your time in a school placement will provide the information required to complete your portfolio. How will I know how well I am doing? You will be given the opportunity to provide feedback on each session to discuss how you feel you are progressing. This feedback is given back to your Tutor. Your work will be marked by your Tutor or Assessor with relevant comments to let you know if it has met the required criteria. One to one Tutorials will give you the opportunity to discuss the course and your progress with your Tutor or Assessor. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You will be required to attend a School placement for a minimum of 5 hours a week. On top of that you may be required to do approximately 5 hours of home study. What will I need to provide? Learners will need to bring: their original DBS (CRB) form and a pen, paper and A4 ring binder a completed additional information form a placement reference form You will also have to attend a Childcare information session Will there be any other costs? You may wish to purchase a resource book to support you with this course; your Tutor can discuss with you what is available.
