Our English courses offer you the opportunity to improve your reading, writing and verbal communication and presentation skills. You will look at lots of different types of texts, for example newspapers, timetables and leaflets. The courses are designed to develop your ability to understand and use effective English in your everyday life, at work and to support the development of your English skills to benefit other subjects you may choose to study. Functional Skills will allow you to use literacy skills practically. This includes employment, leisure and reading for pleasure. You will be encouraged to develop your confidence and problem solving skills whilst working together with other learners. Learners will take a reading exam and a writing exam. Speaking, listening and communication will be assessed through formal and informal one-to one and group discussions. Level 2 learners are required to prepare and deliver a presentation. You will be given ample opportunity to practise for the formal exams as well as the chance to complete a range of work to further develop your skills. We offer Entry Level 1, 2 & 3 Functional Skill qualifications and Level 1 & 2 Functional Skill qualifications. All English qualifications are awarded by City & Guilds.
