History: Outposts of Byzantium

This fascinating course explores both the distinctive and common elements of Byzantine culture at the most significant of its outposts beyond Constantinople. Week by week the course introduces a new centre of Byzantine culture. Beginning with Sinai, we discuss how each one contributed or preserved important aspects of Byzantine life and expression.
