Law & Literature - 'See You in Court' : law and literature only exist in language and are inextricably intertwined. While for Percy Bysshe Shelley, 'Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world,' some of the greatest legal texts aspire to the status of literature. Both legal and literary texts require interpretation. Both shape our understanding of justice, morality and rights. The course will ask the question: What light can law shed on literature and literature on law? How do literature and law shape our understanding of humanity and the rule of law ?
