Summary: This programme is for those that have a Level 2 qualification and who are currently employed in the plumbing and heating industry. Course description: This course has been designed for those that wish to gain a Level 3 qualification to pursue a career in mechanical engineering services (plumbing). This will involve the study of the technical certificate within the college and the gathering of work based evidence for the Level 3 qualification. The day release course runs for 36 weeks in Year 1, between September and July, one day per week. Students may also be required to undertake Functional Skills in Application of Number and Communication at Level 2 if they are studying on a Modern Apprenticeship Framework. The course continues for one more year where an Assessor will visit you onsite as you collect evidence for your NVQ L3. Please note this course does not include the installation of boilers, gas or electrical systems. College facilities include the library, information technology services, Student Union and sports facilities, study skills and learning support. Assessment: Students will be assessed throughout the course on the application of job knowledge via online exams and a final test, and practical assessments of your workshop skills.
