Summary: Bespoke course for students who wish to gain employment and knowlege in a health and social care setting Course description: This is a bespoke course designed to cater for the individual needs of the student. The course includes an award in PSD, general life skills and an introduction into working in a Heath and Social Care setting as well as gaining knowledge of basic functional skills. Students work in a small group of up to 12 students with support throughout. The nurtured environment enables students to gain confidence and self esteem to be able to progress onto a Diploma or apprenticeship through Mint. Through careful assessment, students are given the opportunity to be entered for a Literacy and Numeracy Functional skills qualification.Throughout the course, students are given the opportunity to participate in work experience in a Health and Social Care setting, this enables them to gain the necessary skills and knowledge needed to create a pathway to employment and progress onto a higher level course. Learning outcome: PSD Award, Gaining life skills in subjects such as Healthy Eating/Healthy Living/Making the Most of Leisure Time and Parenting Awareness. Basic Functional Skills in Numeracy and Literacy (Qualification if working at a suitable level). Knowledge and general skills of working in a Health and Social Care setting. Objective: To gain knowledge and understanding of working in a Health and Social Care setting as well as gaining life skills for personal development and well being. Assessment: Students are assessed through visual and written observation throughout the duration of the course. Units are designed in the form of a workbook. This enables the tutor to track progress and identify the individual needs of the student. Group discussion and peer assessment is used to encourage social interaction and engagement.
