You will develop skills in and knowledge of the key aspects of disease and disease prevention, together with an understanding of the underlying principles of biochemistry, molecular biology and physiology. Healthcare scientists work in a wide range of sectors and companies, from the pathology laboratories of the NHS to life science industries, such as Contract Research Organisations (CROs) that carry out clinical trials for new medicines. Modules Year one: Molecules, Genes, Cells and Tissues; Tissues to Organ Systems; Health and Safety and Quality Management; Communication and Working Relationships; Preparatory Techniques and Quality Assurance; Year two: Aspects of Healthcare Sciences; The Microbial World; Drugs and Tissues; Individual Case Study; Instrumentation and Automation.
