This course is for you if you have a focused interest in Art and Design and wish to pursue a career in this field. You will develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for success in Higher Education and employment.The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design is an exciting and challenging practical based course which encourages you to engage with and evaluate a broad range of Art and Design practices. It is designed to provide an educational foundation for a range of careers in Art and Design related disciplines and employment.You will learn and develop techniques and skills, by carrying out a series of set assignments and briefs that incorporate a range of skills and learning experiences outlined in the units. There will be a final major project at the end of the second year.Mandatory units cover; visual recording, materials, techniques and processes, ideas and concepts, communication through Art, and contextual influences. Optional professional units use relevant technology and extend your insight and appreciation of the work of other artists. Optional specialist units expand and develop 2D and 3D skills, media, techniques, processes and ideas and will introduce you to specialist areas in Art and Design such as; fine art, graphic design, life drawing, textiles, photography and 3D.

Name: Art & Design Level 3 Extended Diploma Qualification title: Extended Diploma in Art and Design (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment During the first year, you will follow the Level 3 ‘90 credit' Diploma in Art and Design. After successful completion of this in year one, there is opportunity to progress onto year two in order to complete the full Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design.The course is continuous assessment through assignment based project work. At the end of the first year, successful students will be awarded the Btec Level 3 ‘90 credit' Diploma in Art & Design, students must achieve this to enable progression on to year two to gain the full Btec Level 3 Extended Diploma Art & Design.
