Year 1 . level 4 The first year provides an introduction to some of the fundamental aspects of graphic design and visual culture. The focus is on creativity and the generation of ideas that are then taken through a whole series of possible visual routes, as you strive to provide unique solutions to a set of specific design briefs and problems. You are encouraged to be curious and explore the many diverse and exciting aspects of visual design, developing concepts and ideas using traditional and digital media. Year 2 . level 5 You will continue to explore the many aspects of graphic design and visual communication, in response to the challenges faced in this rapidly changing and dynamic sector of industry. You will be encouraged to identify and explore personal areas of specific interest in more depth, reflect on potential future career paths . Year 3 . level 6 Employability is implicit within this inspiring programme of study as you develop and hone your skills in key aspects of contemporary graphic communications practice. In the third year you are given the opportunity to initiate, develop and realise your creative skills, encouraging you to take more responsibility for planning your workloads, working more independently within a framework of tutorial support and feedback. You are given the chance to investigate a graphic area that is of specific interest to you, providing a unique opportunity to consolidate your skill set and strengths, as you prepare for entry into the commercial environment as a professional practitioner in graphic design and communication. Live brief assignments, regular visits to exhibitions and field trips, entry to national and regional competitions and collaborative projects provide a rich diversity to the learning experience. You will benefit from visiting speakers, lecturers and professionals, who will share their expertise, providing valuable insights into contemporary issues and current working practice.
