The college boasts very good art and design resources, which include large spacious rooms to work in with lively displays of work. Students are encouraged to use the art studios in their non-contact time to continue self-development. Staff are energetic with a proactive approach to teaching, including matching students' interests to their art work and achieving very good results. The course offers the opportunity to research themes and artists, as well as experiment with materials, media, techniques and processes within a fine art context. Students generate a portfolio of work that develops drawing and painting skills and creative approaches to experimental work. In the AS year students develop skills within a fine art context culminating in a final exam piece that portrays their interpretation of the exam theme. In year two there is increasing in-depth development of practical and thinking skills, finishing with an individual, creative final major project.
