Welcome to the world of flowers! Create inspirational designs in traditional, continental and contemporary designs to give pleasure to you, your family and friends. Anyone who wishes to learn the art of arranging flowers for home and special occasions. To gain the knowledge and understand the elements and principles of design and their relevance to creating floral designs. - Recognise different species of plant materials used in flower arranging- Demonstrate when to use each plant and flower form for traditional free style, continental and contemporary styles- Demonstrate how to apply the elements and principles of design to each floral arrangement- Use the technique of conditioning- Knowledge of wiring and taping materials for use in specific advanced designs

Entry requirements

If this is your very first session, we will be completing a symmetrical triangle design. Please bring the following with you:Flowers: a bunch of roses or carnations (5-7 flowers in each bunch), plus a small bunch of lisianthus or spray carnations.Foliage: (this is a suggestion only - please just bring what you can): eucalyptus, pittisporum, conifer ivy leaves, hosta leaves not too big.Container and oasis: square round oasis container, block of oasis (the container has a square base with a round top so is both round and square at the same time!)Tools: Flower scissors if you have them, sharp knife, and pot tape. All these items are available from the tutor at class: Oasis block 80p, square round oasis container 50p each, pot take 80p per roll, flower scissors 9.50IF YOU HAVE ATTENDED A PETER SYMONDS FLORAL DESIGN COURSE BEFORE please bring a very unusual item to complete your arrangement in.
