This workshop will introduce you to the techniques of experimenting with hand building, working with plaster moulds and an introduction to throwing on the wheel. Your work will then be dried and fired. In the second session (2.5 hours) you will learn about glazes and be able to glaze your work and pack your forms in the kiln for the second firing. This workshop is open to everyone who is interested in learning about working with clay. This workshop will run on a Saturday, when you will construct your forms, and then be followed up on a further half day, also on a Saturday, when you can glaze your forms and prepare them for firing in the kiln. The aim of this workshop is to introduce you to working with clay to create a variety of ceramic forms. We will look at potters and ceramicists who create both functional and sculptural forms from a variety of types of clay. We will then use three different making techniques to construct three separate forms which will be built on the first Saturday. These will then dry out and be fired before students return to glaze them in the follow up Saturday session.
