This course is designed for those who wish to obtain a Level 3 qualification in Sports Massage Therapy. Students will develop the knowledge, understanding and technical skills to competently apply sports massage methods to dysfunctional tissue in pre, post, intra/inter and maintenance massage contexts. There are no formal pre-requisite qualification required, however, candidates are expected to have a level of general education comparable to GCSE's at pass grade or above, or have related qualifications at Level 2. In this qualification candidates will develop their knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning the practice of sports massage therapy, including anatomy and physiology related to sports massage, professional practice, an understanding of the principles of health and fitness and how to provide sports massage treatments. This will allow the candidate to better understand their client, the problems that they may be incurring and how sports massage may assist them. It will also help to develop an understanding of the differences between soft tissue dysfunction, injury and the role that sports massage plays. The qualification consists of five mandatory units, all of which must be completed:- Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Massage- Principles of Health and Fitness- Professional Practice in Sports Massage- Understand the Principles of Tissue Dysfunction- Sports Massage Treatments
