Hairdressing Level 2 Diploma

Anyone who wishes to practice the introductory skills of hairdressing with a view to seeking employment, either in a salon, or as a self- employed hairdresser. The level 2 Diploma in Women's hairdressing is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in the creative art of cutting and dressing women's hair along with other associated skills of shampooing, colouring and lightening. A good standard of education is expected and good communication skills are essential as hairdressing is a service industry and without clients there would be no business. The aim of the course is to provide all the practical skills and related theory required to practice hairdressing to a commercial skill level. Our aim is to make the hairdresser employable in the introductory skills of level 2. You will become competent and confident in the skills that salons require and make you very employable. Not only will you learn the practical skills of each unit you will gain experience in client care and how to be within health and safety guidelines expected by the Industry regulations. You will be working on fee paying clients very quickly to gain good communication skills, outstanding client care and customer service and the experience of dealing with all variations of clients' needs,in a professional manner. The course involves learning all the related anatomy of hair growth and technical knowledge colour which must be understood in support of some of the practical treatments and services we offer, as well as the health and safety considerations, client care and communication skills and how to work effectively within a hair salon, to become self-employed or a mobile stylist.

The practical and written work is also internally verified by other members of staff as a quality check and then an external verifier from the Awarding Body comes in twice per year to check our systems and procedures. There are continual practical assessments, written assessment questions, internal and external written exams, case studies, and a portfolio of evidence for your practical treatments. Full hairdressing kit, student uniform and text book to be purchased. There is also a material fee which contributes towards all the products used, laundry and other expenses.
