Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

A full Level 2 course, carrying 16 credits, which offers the student the opportunity to explore what counselling is and is not, in a safe environment. PLEASE NOTE: this course takes place on Mondays at the above time, for 14 weeks PLUS the following Saturdays from 9:30-16:30: 08 October 2016, 14 & 22 January 2017. This course is for those who:- wish to explore an interest in counselling;- wish to improve, extend and enhance listening skills;- are interested in people;- are interested in theory;- wish to develop self;- wish to progress and become a qualified counsellor. The aims of the course are to provide the student with the opportunity: - to develop counselling skills in a helping relationship and learn appropriate boundaries;- to develop knowledge of three main counselling theoretical approaches;- to gain an understanding of the contexts and ethics relevant in the use of counselling skills;- to reflect on their own personal and future development and identify potential sources of support. During the course you will:- participate in small group and whole class discussions;- work in a small group to produce a presentation;- regularly work in a triad and thus have the opportunity to practice the skills you have learned, to learn from your peers, and to both give and receieve feedback;- learn about yourself and your relationships.

Towards the end of the course your skills will be assessed by another member of the counselling training team.
