The two units for AS Level are: Unit 1 - Media Representation and Responses - You will explore the Media through a study of genre, narrative, representation and audience. This will include an analysis of traditional media (e.g. film, music, TV, news) as well as digital media and their construction of social/cultural groups and events. This is an external assessment of 2 1/2 hours. Unit 2 - Media Production Processes - You will demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skills in Media production processes through research, planning, production and evaluation. You will produce three pieces of linked work: 1. a pre-production which reflects planning techniques (digital photographic storyboard)2. a production which has developed out of the pre-production (TV extract)3. a report which highlights research findings and evaluates the production with existing Media products. The two units for A2 level are: Unit 3 - Media Investigation and Production - This unit reflects the importance of research in informing Media production. You will produce three pieces of linked work: 1. A research investigation into a specific area of study which will draw on primary and secondary sources. This research study will inform the production2. A Media production (Film trailer, music video or magazine/comic)3. An evaluation which explores how the production was informed by the research undertaken. Unit 4 - Text, Industry and Audience - This unit develops your understanding of the relationship between Media texts, audiences and industries (e.g. Computer Games, Music, Comic Book and Film Industries).You will study contemporary texts with an investigation of production, distribution, marketing/promotion, regulation, global implications and historical context. This is an external assessment of 21/2 hours.
