With the option of Combined Hair type units including African Type hair. This qualification provides knowledge and practical skills in women's and men's hairdressing with the option of units in 'Combined' hair types (Caucasian; Asian and Afro-Caribbean). If you wish to have a broad subject knowledge and technical ability in both women's and men's hairdressing or if you wish to specialise in dealing with Afro-Caribbean Hair then this is the course for you. During the course; in addition to 7 generic hairdressing / barbering units you will also be able to pick a further 3 additional units tailoring the course to suit your individual requirements. VRQ's (Vocationally Related Qualification) these qualifications are a flexible way of learning specialist hairdressing skills. Develop your practical salon skills and learn more about the principles of hairdressing. Your tutors are professionals with qualifications and experience in the hairdressing industry. They will help you to practice your new skills on each other; training heads and with clients in our newly built salons which are open to the general public as well as staff and students. The necessary skills for this qualification will be taught though a variety of situations; in a commercial salon; input sessions and through theory lessons. This is a demanding course; and home study will also be an integral part of your work. All students will undertake a functional skills qualification alongside their programme and it may be possible to take an additional unit in beauty; hair or barbering to enhance your work.

Entry requirements

You will be required to purchase a hairdressing kit for the practical assessments. You will be required to wear a uniform to all practical sessions, this consists of a turquoise tunic with matching trousers and black closed in shoes.
