If you would like to try something creative, pottery is an exciting skill to learn. Working with clay is a very satisfying experience. If you have never tried it before, you will soon see how easy, effective and pleasing it is to carve, model and construct individual hand-crafted items. You will be able to use your dextrous skills in an imaginative way and see the processes through from ideas to firing in our excellently equipped pottery studio and kilns. Those with some experience will be able to extend their ideas and skills as this class is for beginners and improvers. The course promotes eye to hand dexterity. The course will teach you traditional and less-traditional methods of construction, decoration, glazing and firing. You will build on skills you have been taught and we aim to bring out your creativity and personality with individual help and guidance. You will learn slab rolling, pinching, press-moulding, coiling modelling and throwing on the wheel.
