Oil Painting - All Abilities

This course is aimed at beginners and those with some experience of using oil paints who wish to improve their skills and gain confidence to tackle a wider range of subjects. You may be introduced to the following techniques and themes: Cleaning and maintaining brushes, colour mixing, using a limited palette, using different brushes, blending, impasto, sgraffito, glazing and using different meduims. Landscapes and all of it's elements including trees, seascapes, boats, still life, natural forms, flowers, figures and portraits. You will work from life and from photographs. You will investigate a variety of old and contemporary oil painters and complete some initial research at home for new projects. You may be given some hand-outs to support your learning and expand your art history knowledge.
