This course is the recognised qualification for people working in the Childcare sector with children aged 0-5 years (with a working knowledge of 5-7 year olds). It will cover the skills required by an Early Years Practitioner. You must be 18 or over to enrol with at least one year's current experience working with children and/or have an existing relevant Level 2 qualification. You will need to have GCSEs in maths and English grade A-C and you must be volunteering or be employed for a minimum of 14 hours per week in a childcare setting at the start of, and for the duration of, this course as you will be assessed in the workplace. In addition we are required to obtain a reference from your employer prior to you starting the course. You will also need to have some basic ICT skills to undertake this course as you will be using an electronic portfolio, however if your ICT skills are weak please let us know and we can provide support. If you are aged 19 or over then you may be able to apply for a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan. This course will help you improve your career prospects and enable you to work in a variety of childcare settings. You may wish to progress on to the Leadership for Children's Care, Learning & Development Level 5 Diploma.
