Bench joinery is the preparation, setting out, and manufacture of joinery components. Timber has been used for thousands of years, and it’s still an important construction material. It is used throughout the industry, and working with it can be extremely varied and rewarding. Successful completion of this Level 2 study programme could lead to progressing to the Level 3 apprenticeship. This will provide you with fully qualifies status in this skill. Overall, woodworkers will need to enjoy using their hands, as well as a variety of both hand and power tools. Good hand-eye co-ordination is essential, as are accurate measuring skills. Our qualifications are aimed at people wishing to learn some skills in carpentry and joinery, to progress on to becoming skilled in their chosen trade You will study the following mandatory units: •Health, safety and welfare in construction •Principles of building construction, information and communication •Set up and operate a circular saw •Produce setting out details for bench joinery products •Mark out from setting out details for bench joinery products •Manufacture bench joinery products •You will complete 60 hours of work placement which will give you valuable work place experience. •A full tutorial programme to improve your employability skills and support you through your course.
