This course, designed to support learners with below Level 2 Functional Maths skills, will help learners feel more confident in using numbers for everyday things like money, time, distance, shape and position. Functional maths is all about using maths in real-life situations. The course will underpin maths skills and help learners apply these in everyday contexts, as well as new and challenging situations. Learners will improve their use of numbers, measuring and handling data and this course follows the adult numeracy core curriculum. The course will be mainly taught to individuals at levels appropriate to their initial assessment, but depending on the group profile, each week some whole group work will be undertaken. Learners will have the opportunity to study towards a Nationally recognised Functional Mathematics qualification.
