Cake Decorating

Learn the basic skills needed to cover and embellish your celebration cake using different techniques of royal icing and sugar paste. Skills you will learn are: 1 Royal icing techniques, covering a cake and piping work; 2 How to make Mexican past and edible glue; 3 Creating basic models, babies and animals; 4 Making roses, gerberas and daisies; 5 Learning how to use a wide range of tools to embellish your cakes with; 6 How to cover a fruit and sponge cake professionally; 7 Decorating cupcakes. Skills learnt will include making Mexican paste to create your models, basic flowers and lettering. The course will culminate in students designing and creating their own celebration cake.

Entry requirements

Are there specific requirements for joining? This course is suited to those with or without experience. Will there be additional costs? Your tutor will discuss the items required for a basic tool kit during the first week. You will also be required to provide your own sugar paste, cakes, boards, dummy cakes etc. It may be possible to order some items in bulk to save on costs but your tutor will discuss this with you. Do I need specific equipment or clothes?
