Beginners will be lead through a series of the key skills of drawing in a structured, step-by-step way, beginning with basic observation and measuring techniques and extending to line, tone, mark-making, aspects of colour and of composition. More experienced students will build on existing techniques and explore more advanced concepts, pushing the boundaries of drawing. This will be student-focused and topics covered will depend on the skills and interests of the group. The course will largely be studio-based but, depending on the weather, there may be opportunities to work outdoors. Teaching will include illustrated presentations, tutor demonstrations; practical painting/drawing and individual tuition and guidance. All techniques and concepts will be introduced through tutor demonstrations and placed in context using art historical references, and you will benefit from supportive, tailored, feedback throughout.
