Autocad for Interior Designers - Introduction

This is an 17-week introductory course in AutoCAD software - the program used to create to-scale, technical drawings for interior design and architecture. It covers the basic concepts and methods in 2D AutoCAD drawing. The aim of the course is to practically teach the various techniques to produce original 2D drawings and build a portfolio of work displaying your skills and to take to interview, either for employment or further education purposes. The course is followed by a 17-week Autocad Intermediate course, and it is hoped that many learners will progress on to the Intermediate to continue developing their knowledge of this large and complex program. Each lesson starts simply and progresses to more complex techniques. The approach taken is to familiarise you with the drawing commands first, and then teach you to create your own setup drawings. You will learn the core commands of AutoCAD, enabling you to accurately produce, modify and present drawings within the computer programme. You will build up a range of skills which are assessed through the undertaking of drawing assignments, to be displayed in a portfolio of work The course covers the following techniques: • Starting AutoCAD , AutoCAD Workspaces • Using a Template, Lines, Erase , Undo and Redo, Back up files and Recover • Circle, Rectangle, Grid & Increment, Snap Layers, Lineweights • Object snap, Drawing setup • Polygon Ellipse, Donut, Point • Break, Trim, Extend, Move, Drag, Nudge, Explode • Copy, Mirror, Fillet, Chamfer, • Single line text, Multiline text, Tabs, Indents, Columns, Paragraph, Line spacing, Editing text • Coordinate input, Absolute, Relative, Direct Distance, Measure Tool, Creating a Border, Basic Plotting from Model Space • Moving the Origin, Displaying the UCS icon • Polar Coordinate Input, Using Polar Coordinates, Dynamic Input, Using Dynamic Input and Polar Coordinates, Polar Tracking, Polar Snap 11-10 • Offset, Properties Palette, Quick Properties Panel • Array,
