The Retail Apprenticeships are relevant to 1.8 million employees in the retail sector and remains popular with employers with provisional figures for 2011/2012 showing over 30,000 starts for level 2 and 3 apprenticeships. This trend is anticipated to continue. Specific job roles for apprentices - Intermediate level apprentices will train as Sales Assistants, Customer Service Assistants and Stockroom Assistants as well as more specialist roles such as Beauty Consultants.
