Students will complete a Level 2 Diploma in Hair & Beauty Services during the year. Successful students could then progress on to complete the NVQ Level 2 in either Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy. This programme gives students a good overview of both Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy as a career and will cover in depth practical and theoretical knowledge. Functional Skills development is also integrated into the course which supports employment into the Hair and Beauty industry. Students should allocate approximately 15 hours per week for home study to support this course. The facilities available at both the Beauty Academy & the Francesco Academy are of an excellent standard. Content 1. Health & Safety 2. Shampoo & condition 3. Art of colouring hair 4. Art of dressing the hair 5. Make-up 6. Manicure 7. Pedicure 8. Create an image based on a theme within the hair & beauty sector 9. Reception ENGLISH AND MATHS We are committed to helping students improve their skills in English and Maths. Students on a full-time course at College who missed out on GCSE qualifications at Grades A-C in these subjects at school will attend additional classes and receive support to enhance their grades. Depending on individual ability, students will work towards GCSE, City & Guilds or Functional Skills Awards to ensure that they have the qualifications needed to progress to University or employment. Name: Hair and Beauty Services Diploma Level 2 Qualification title: VTCT Diploma at Level 2 in Hair and Beauty Services Qualification type: Other regulated/accredited qualification Assessment A portfolio of evidence will be collected by students for assessment. This will consist of written, oral and observed practical evidence. In order to achieve students are required to develop their own client data base alongside the existing Academies clientele. Treatment pricelists are available at Beauty Academy and Francesco receptions for your information. Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops or electronic note pads in to class to facilitate learning. Entry requirements

Course Costs Level 2 Diploma in Hair & Beauty Services Kit - £450.00 approx. This includes trips and workshops relevant to the course, students can apply to the Learner Support Fund if financial assistance is required or pay in instalments. Students will also need to purchase a pair of low heeled black shoes. Additional Costs Please note that students aged 19 plus may be required to pay exam and registration costs. This will be payable during the Autumn Term. You may be able to get support towards these costs from the College Learner Support Fund. Uniform As part of the salon rules and regulations students are not allowed to wear jewellery in the salon environment except one pair of small studs in the lower ear lobe, this also includes facial jewellery.
