The new BTEC Level 1 Certificate is designed to encourage you to develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work, learning and to help you achieve your full potential. BTEC Level 1 qualifications are intended as practical hands on programmes with each one taught in the context of real jobs and careers in a chosen vocational sector. This gives you the chance to explore the opportunities offered in that sector, and to acquire appropriate vocational skills. Course Content The course is made up of Eight Units: Three Core Units, which everyone takes, Two Compulsory Personal Skills Units and Three Optional Units. The Optional Units enable you to study particular areas in more depth. All students take these Three Core Units: 1. Starting Work in the IT Industry 2. Working in the IT Industry 3. Developing Skills in IT You take the Two following Personal Skills Units: 1. Personal Effectiveness 2. Financial Management You then take the Three following Optional Units: 1. Using the Internet 2. IT Applications 3. Digital Devices The course also includes the following mandatory components: Pre GCSE English and Maths
