Health and Social Care (Health Science) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma

The course comprises of 9 units of study. Each is graded at pass, merit or distinction and an accumulative course grade is awarded at completion. Subjects studied include: Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care; Nutrition for Health and Social Care; Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care; Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care; Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care; Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care; Development Through the Life Stages; Introduction to Microbiology for Health and Social Care; Physiological Disorders; Science for Health. Work Placement Experience Work placement is an integral part of the course. Students must complete a minimum of 2 separate placements per year (in one week blocks) and receive suitable progress reports to continue on the course. Learners will be expected to make contact individual placements and formalised by our placement officers. The College has a large data base of established relationships with individually vetted local employers. Additional Qualifications Whilst studying for the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health Science students may be given the opportunity to gain additional qualifications such as First Aid at Work and GCSEs/Functional Skills. It should be noted that student ability and timetable constraints might affect availability and choice.
