Art and Design (Visual) BTEC Level 2 Diploma

UPDATED 20160721 10:09:12

This Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design (Visual) is for anyone who really enjoys experimenting hands-on with art and design materials and techniques through, for example, drawing, painting, printing and making. It encourages creativity whilst focusing on the development of practical skills and teaches you how to express ideas through visual language. The course work will cover a variety of different project briefs through which you will experience painting, drawing, mixed media, print-making, photography, textiles and 3D work in ceramics, paper, card, metal and wood. On this course you will learn about the work of other artists and designers and what opportunities there are to work within the art and design industry. These lessons will not only take place in college, but also through visits to museums, art galleries and to organisations within the art and design industry. There will also be field trips where you will gather research for your projects. The work produced on the course will form the basis of your own portfolio, which will be essential if you intend to apply to do a Level 3 Art and Design qualification, either at Stafford College or any other college. To achieve, you have to successfully complete seven core/mandatory and four optional specialist units. All of these will be covered by course work and some self-directed study. Your Personal Tutor will monitor your progress against these units and help you to identify what you need to do to continually improve so that you achieve your full potential. At the end of the course, all students have the opportunity to participate in the annual art and design exhibition.
