Patchwork and Quilting: Beginners

For beginners to patchwork and quilting interested in learning English and American traditional and fast piecing techniques. The course includes hand and machine sewing, use of colour, fabric preparation and constructing a quilt top. Use of the sewing machine is also be covered in lessons. Returning students may wish to pursue their own projects in consultation with the tutor.

Entry requirements

•Please bring a basic sewing kit - 100% cotton fabrics, needles, pins, scissors, matching or neutral coloured threads. Fabrics should be dressweight or specialist patchwork fabrics. You will need approximately 1.5 to 2 metres of assorted fabrics for the top of a quilt and 1.5 metres for backing fabric. Fabrics can be recycled or new. •If you wish to work on your own projects, please bring materials for it - these may be recycled or new. •Notebook, pencil and eraser • You may also wish to obtain a folder for storing handouts.
