This course teaches a variety of felting traditions and techniques with emphasis on embellishing surface decoration. Felting techniques include inlaying, drawing with wool, mosaicing and applique. Using both hand and machine stitching, felt surfaces can be enriched with a wide range of embroidery stiches. Dye processes are introduced to enhance colour and patterning. Make experimental samples to build up a vocabulary of techniques and progress quickly to creating uniquely textured and coloured items of clothing, furnishings and accessories, as well as sculptural pieces.
