Explore Printmaking: Beginners & Intermediate

Gain confidence and broaden your knowledge of relief printmaking on this Monday evening course which will take a close look at linocut and woodcut. Following a close structure all aspects of lino relief printmaking will be explored from single colour through to two colour, caustic etching , reduction lino and laser cutting. Learn how to mix inks, work effectively with the linocut tools and master the art of registration. A group visit to the V & A print collection will be arranged to engage and re-enforce the techniques. Throughout the term there will be will be group discussions, critiques and one to one support. Open to beginners through to advanced students there is room on this course to pursue individual printmaking projects.

Entry requirements

Please bring: pencils, a small paintbrush and a sketchbook and/ or notebook. Relief cutting or other printmaking tools if you have them. Protective clothing is provided, or you can bring your own apron and rubber gloves. The course fee includes most studio consumables (ink, cleaning materials, solvents etc) but you will have to pay for paper, etching plates/ lino blocks etc. These are available to buy in the department at cost price.
