Discover the beauty of Japanese landscapes and famous places depicted in Japanese woodblock prints. This course provides an overview to Japanese landscape prints which have long been appreciated and highly valued for their high technical quality, sumptuous colours and richness of their imagery. Key artists like Hokusai and Hiroshige and their prints will be introduced and discussed. As Japanese landscape prints in particular had a tremendous effect on Western art, the course will conclude by looking at how and why these prints appealed to Western artists.
