Discovering History: OCN London

For anyone who enjoys studying and learning about history you will cover some highly fascinating insights into various aspects of British History and the impact that has had on the world at large. You will study ideas from the Enlightenment through the study of various periods in British history: from industrialisation to the British Empire. This includes study of the Slave Trade and its eventual abolition and how Britain came to include India in its Empire. This is a year-long course. The list of learning outcomes below is only examples of what will be taught over the duration of the course. There are a number of additional learning outcomes related to each module. This course forms part of the Access to HE Humanities Diploma.

Entry requirements

You should bring a notebook and writing materials. Hand-outs will be provided for each session. It is essential that you organise your paperwork and it is suggested that you purchase a ring binder file, a hole punch and stapler in order to file your hand outs. A reading list will be provided and it is strongly recommended that you obtain a copy of the core book. Pen and note-paper are often useful.
