Access to HE Diplomas are well established, national qualifications which allow students without traditional Level 3 qualifications to apply for degree courses and enter university.Our Access to Teacher Training course runs over one year and is ideal if you wish to progress to university to study on a range of education related or teacher training programmes. The diploma may also be a beneficial qualification if you are looking to go directly into employment, where Level 3 qualifications are required.If you have had experience of working in schools or other formal setting working with children, or if you just have a commitment to becoming a teacher and are prepared to work hard, then Access to Teacher Training will give you a firm foundation.This course incorporates a variety of units that will encourage you to develop your higher level thinking and prepare you for studying at university. You will cover a range of subjects which will include the study of all aspects of English, from Shakespeare to syntax, which is designed to develop your communication skills which are vital for all successful teachers. You will also study IT units which are designed to develop the skills necessary for successful study both on the Access course and beyond, as well as study skills units to enhance your essay writing and research techniques.Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.There may be opportunities for adult students to study English and maths as part of your programme, and the level and type of qualification will be selected to suit individual need.
