This Level 2 Apprenticeship in Trowel Occupations (Bricklaying) is designed to recognise and enhance your knowledge, skills and competence as a bricklayer in the construction industry.This course will suit a practical person with good hand skills. You will learn to demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding in core subject areas, such as safety and welfare, productive working practices and erecting and setting out masonry structures in the workplace.Topics covered on the course include:Erecting masonry claddingErecting thin joint masonry structuresPlacing and finishing non-specialist concreteRepairing and maintaining masonry structuresThe kind of learning experience you can expect on the course is a mix of classroom based theory lessons and practical workshops, where you’ll get to build solid brick walls to industry standards.The programme’s teaching methods are highly rated by Ofsted, who described them as “interesting and purposeful, incorporating a wide range of well-planned learning activities that stimulate students’ interest and motivation.” (Ofsted Inspection May 2014).You will develop your skills using industry standard facilities and materials both in your workplace and at the College.
