This course is for you if you have not achieved at GCSE level and wish to work towards gaining a vocational qualification and improve your literacy, numeracy, IT and employability skills.You will have the chance to try out pathways in Business Administration, IT Users and Creative Media as one vocational taster per term.Business AdministrationIn this course you will develop your knowledge of the different types of office equipment that are available and how to use this equipment to carry out administrative tasks safely and efficiently. The types of equipment used will reflect a typical modern workplace and are likely to include the telephone, fax machine, franking machine, photocopier and scanner. You will also learn how to use the basic functions of a computer and to understand its operating system in an administrative context. You will develop an understanding of the IT desktop environment and have the opportunity to create and save simple business documents and to create and send business emails.IT UsersIn this course you will use software applications to produce presentations which include a combination of media (for example images, animation and sound). You will gain knowledge about what kinds of information can be used within a presentation and the how copyright laws affect their presentations. You will also learn to create spreadsheets displaying charts and graphs and use a range of basic word processing tools and techniques to produce various types of documents.Creative Media In this course you will learn about the use of different types of mediums and will work as a team to plan, record and present a simple media product and evaluate your own work.You will have the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills needed to produce digital images. You will use a variety of hardware to capture images and also create and edit images digitally.You will learn by applying your skills by working in small groups, making presentations, completing written assignments
