The Course This course will provide guidance on how to create a kitchen garden, in a small space. What the course involves: * Introduction - Selection of pictures/examples of achievable ideas, * Why? – Advantages: feel good factor/satisfaction of Growing Your Own. Aesthetics: low maintenance/outlay. Achievable anywhere on any scale, * What? – Herbs, salads, smaller vegetables/fruit. Combining with ornamentals, * How to achieve – containers/hanging baskets/vertical gardening. Composts/irrigation & maintenance, * Choice of plants/species – what students would like to grow/provide according to individual circumstances, * Facilitated design exercise – students have a go at designing/planning their own Grow Your Own scheme. The course will consist of a presentation with handouts/brochures and plenty of discussion. Includes a break for tea/coffee.
