History

UPDATED 20160719 08:42:31

The course covers varied aspects of modern History, and develops students' skills in the analysis of evidence, the evaluation and discussion of arguments, and the communication of ideas. The course is assessed by a mix of exams and interpretative and investigative coursework. Anyone with an inquisitive mind, who wants to explore the past and how it helps to shape the modern world, will find this course challenging and stimulating. A committed approach to studying and a willingness to share opinions in class discussions are also important. While essential for those wishing to pursue a History degree, the skills involved in studying A-level History are also highly regarded by other University faculties and by future employers. Many graduates go onto careers in journalism, law, business, government and teaching. For more information on the course we study, please visit the OCR website.
