The level 1 Diploma course is an introductory course for those students who wish to pursue a career in the wood occupations industry, this 1 year course is very hands on with the majority of the work taking place in the college workshops where you can develop your skills to prepare you for the world of work. The course has a range of exciting content where you will have the opportunity to design, cost, and make products both in house and where possible for external clients.In the past we have worked on the Saltburn in Bloom campaign constructing Flower tubs and planters as well as constructing trellis work to improve the look of public buildings within Saltburn. The Scale Model of Saltburn pier was constructed by Redcar students and is currently on display as you enter Saltburn on the Redcar Road route. Students also adapted and repaired a Saluting stand for Redcar borough Council which is used for ceremonial occasions by the Mayor and other local dignitaries. Health and safety is paramount within the industry and you will be trained in all aspects of this to ensure that you are kept safe throughout the programme. No formal entry requirements are required, however grades D or above in Maths and English would help those with long term goals in the industry.
