What will I study? This course will develop your understanding of the fashion industry and raise your awareness of the design process, including pattern cutting and garment production through to historical and contextual understanding, fashion photography, fashion illustration, presentation techniques and portfolio building. You will also be encouraged to develop your own style of fashion illustration through observational drawing and investigation and be taught industry software packages. You will also develop skills in fashion promotion and marketing. In year one you will work towards the UAL Level 3 Diploma. Successful completion of the year may enable you to progress to year two and complete the Level 3 Extended Diploma. Throughout your study programme, there is also a focus on preparing you for a career in the industry. Your assignments may have a work focus and will involve assessments- some may be set by industry. You may be encouraged to market and sell artefacts that you have manufactured on the course. This is how many independent artists start their career. You will also gain valuable work experience or work as an independent practitioner on client briefs.
