What will I study? This is a cutting-edge programme uses the latest technology to prepare you for work in the computer industry, business or university. Whichever pathway you choose, you will study the same subjects and topics in Year 1, which includes web design, e-commerce, information systems, programming, mobile technology and apps, computer systems and security. This gives a good grounding in computer science and business IT technologies and enables you to decide which pathway you would like to take in Year 2. In Year 2, you will make a choice as to which BTEC qualification you would like to specialise in from: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Software Development This pathway offers specialism in computer technology and programme and software development. You will study modules in event driven programming, games development, software design and control systems. Systems Analysis, Networks and other computing modules are also included. BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT (Business) This pathway offers specialism in general IT and preparing students for a foundation in the application of IT technologies to Business. You will study a variety of modules including Animation, Digital Graphics and the design of databases. Systems Analysis, Networks and other computing and IT modules are also included. As part of both pathways you will visit businesses such as Coca Cola to learn how they use IT systems. You will attend master classes and Q&A sessions with industry experts. You will also have the opportunity to go on overseas visits to work on computer projects in Italy, Spain, France, Turkey or other countries, visit exhibitions, take part in enterprise activities and competitions, network with industry and former students about their experiences in their new careers or university studies. You may also visit computer departments at leading universities if you choose to progress to higher education and receive help to organise work experience placements.
