Oil Painting - Beginners

This one day course will establish a range of basic methods in Oil Painting and give you the opportunity to experiment with your Oil Paints and introduce you to the materials and care of tools. You will learn to distinguish the use of tone, colour, composition and texture; gain confidence in using painting materials and be encouraged to take part in group discussions. Learners will have access to one to one support. The overall aim is to help you develop personal expression through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques. You will have access to one to one support and the overall aim is to offer a relaxed and supportive environment to enable you to learn some basic techniques through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration. Also to encourage you to continue to use this versatile medium either in further classes or personal study

Entry requirements

Bring whatever oil painting materials you may already have purchased, You will need for the course oil paints, brushes, palette knife, palette (for mixing paint), kitchen roll or rags for cleaning, oil painting paper, canvas or canvas board to paint on. Please use low odour brush cleaner, liquin or linseed oil as mediums and a container (such as Jam jar with lid) to take residue home with you. Baby wipes are very handy for cleaning up. It is recommended to bring an apron, overall or old clothes.
